Alexandria
Age-old buildings that make way for modern structures, bustling streets that lead to tranquil waters and rolling dunes that meet lush green fields are just some of the highlights of Egypt’s cultural capital, Alexandria.
Sitting at the edge of the Nile Delta, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Alexandria will leave you spellbound with its sea-facing al fresco dining scene, culture-filled lifestyle and ancient ruins. Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, it boasts historic sites like the remains of Kom Al Dikka, a Graeco-Roman neighbourhood and amphitheatre, the Great Library and the 15th century Citadel of Qaitbay.
The Pearl of the Mediterranean, as it’s known, Alexandria offers you the chance to admire both, nature and history, in a single trip.

Things to do in Alexandria:
● While the city’s Great Library lies in ruins, the new Bibliotheca Alexandrina is the largest library in the Middle East. Apart from the volumes of books stacked here, you can admire the building’s unique architecture as well as the museums and exhibitions housed inside.
● The Alexandria Corniche will draw you in with its views, but you’ll stay for the experience. As you walk along the busy road, you can see tourists making memories, locals roasting corn and selling coffee, and friends catching up.
● The Montazah Gardens, sprawled across 150 acres, is full of tall palm trees, blossoming flowers and trimmed lawns that allow you to feel close to nature.
Food specialities in Alexandria:
Given its location along the coast, Alexandria is a great place for you to relish some delectable seafood. If you’re hoping to try some local delicacies, liver sandwiches are especially popular. But, if that isn’t quite your thing, you can find shawarma shops at most street corners.
